The Jeff Siegel picks ahead of the final Triple Crown race tell us he’s pinning his hopes on the Todd Pletcher-trained MINDFRAME.
This is the least-experienced of the Belmont Stakes horses in the line-up with only two previous starts.
However, the exciting Constitution colt has won both of those outings by a combined 20 lengths and Siegel feels there’s a lot more to come.
Having bypassed the two earlier Triple Crown races, Mindframe also heads to Saratoga fresher than most. A good recent breeze-up also suggests he’s improved again since his last win at Churchill Downs in April.
Yes, he’s taking a big leap up in grade here, but Siegel goes onto say Mindframe is a strong traveller and, having posted fast times in his wins, looks more than capable of tackling Grade I company for the first time.
His trainer, Todd Pletcher, is also no stranger to winning the Belmont Stakes, having won the Run For The Carnations four times. With the most recent being Mo Donegal in 2022.
Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr, who rode Mo that day, is also teaming up with Mindframe and, after also landing the Belmont in 2016 with Creator, is looking for his third win in the final Triple Crown contest.

Belmont Stakes Next Best: Sierra Leone Can Follow Mindframe Home
Kentucky Derby second Sierra Leone is the one that Jeff Siegel feels can give Mindframe most to fear.
The Belmont Stakes odds tell us that Sierra Leone is the betting favorite in the build-up to the race and it’s not hard to see why oddsmakers take no chances with this Chad Brown runner.
Sierra Leone is yet to finish out of the first two from his five career starts (3 wins). After lugging in the Churchill Downs home stretch, many feel he should have won the Kentucky Derby.
Connections have freshened Sierra Leone up since by not running in the Preakness, and in a recent breeze-up looked as good as ever.
Brown has also said to help with his ‘lugging’ they’ve tried him with a different bit and that seems to have worked based on recent workouts.
Brown will be looking for his first Belmont Stakes win, as will Sierra Leone’s jockey Flavien Prat.
Kentucky Derby & Preakness Winners To Also Run Well
This year’ Belmont Stakes also has the added star-billing of having the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winners. As both Mystik Dan and Seize The Grey will line up too.
The Belmont Stakes trends tell us that Mystik Dan will be looking to become the twelfth horse to win just the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes. While Seize The Grey will be hoping to become the nineteenth horse to land only the Preakness and Belmont.
Mystik Dan will also be the only horse to have run in all three Triple Crown races this season.
If Seize The Grey can land a famous Pimlico/Saratoga double, he’ll also be providing veteran trainer D. Wayne Lukas with his fifth Belmont Stakes win.
His previous Belmont Stakes winners came in 1994 (Tabasco Cat), 1995 (Thunder Gulch), 1996 (Editor’s Note) and 2000 (Commendable).
